Goldy and the Wizard
Elaine Wood owns wire wall art business, Goldy and the Wizard.
Her business idea started from working in her mum's local wedding dress shop after she had left school. Elaine had always been creative and started making wedding headdresses out of wire and crystals that her mum sold in the shop. She later moved on to making fascinators and selling them online when the wedding shop was sold.
Elaine later decided to use these skills to make wire wall art which she soon realised was in demand. After this, she made the decision to leave her admin job that she had not been enjoying and focus her energy on her small business.
Help from BIPC
Help from BIPC
After a recommendation from a friend, Elaine decided to contact BIPC Tees Valley for help with her business.
Elaine said: Prior to meeting with Paul I really had no idea what support was available to help local small businesses. I hadn't really thought about my future plans for the business or how I saw my business developing - I was just planning each day and week without any thought of making a business plan or where I saw my business in a years time or 5 years time. Now I feel like I have clarity about how I want my business to grow and develop and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have happened any time soon without Paul's help.

At the moment Elaine works from home but she would love to grow her business to a point where she can rent an office space or unit to work from.
She would also love to offer workshops and has plans to extend her product range with the recent purchase of a laser machine making this possible.
